The MAUVAIS clothing brand is a major international success story, starting life in a bedroom of Jordan Jones’ parents’ house. Working 16 hours a day, Jordan lived and breathed the brand, and watching it grow has been hugely rewarding.
In the early days of the company, Jordan would have boxes of new stock delivered to the family home, before carrying them by hand from an articulated lorry into the lounge. Here, Jordan had set up a small sorting space, where he would sift through each of the enormous boxes while being unable to get past the sofa or see the TV.
This early dedication has since paid off. For the first six months of running MAUVAIS, Jordan had to package all the orders by himself before taking them to the local Post Office and joining the queue. His early processing technique used to cause quite the stir locally, because sending nearly 100 orders at once tended to take quite a while!
Moving stock into a dedicated warehouse after six months allowed the brand to grow faster and also allowed Jordan to organize office space and continue to develop MAUVAIS products.
MAUVAIS is aimed at young men aged 19-35 and has already grown at a phenomenal rate. At just three years old, MAUVAIS continues to go from strength to strength, with an Instagram following of more than 200k and a full-time staff of seven people.
Sales have been through the roof, with a turnover of £550k in the first year, rising to £1.5m in the second and now headed to £8m in the third.
The best day of sales was during a highly anticipated product restock, where MAUVAIS took in £64K between 6 pm and midnight, rising to £100k over 24 hours. This impressive feat was achieved only through the dedication of MAUVAIS’ founder, who has shared his enthusiasm with the new team which surrounds him.
At the start of his MAUVAIS journey, Jordan always believed that the brand would become the huge success that it has – and he’s well aware of how incredible it is for his company to have grown into one of the fastest-growing companies in the UK. As Jordan and his team look to the future, he’s now reflecting on the journey so far and the road ahead.
“When I dropped out of school, I knew that I would be able to make the brand a success – I always had the vision for it,” says Jordan. “The success of MAUVAIS has been a dream come true – but we’ve also worked hard to get here. I can’t wait to see what the future holds.”
MAUVAIS’ online presence has been a major part of the brand’s success, opening the gateway to international sales. In addition to the website, MAUVAIS clothing is also available via global retailer ASOS.
